Pereira fights it off against the fence. Connelly lands an elbow off the clinch and continues to press opposite the kicks of Pereira, who tries a rolling thunder kick and another flyng knee. Connelly backs up, and Pereira sneaks in a knee. But not before some more fancy capoiera moves and another flying knee. Nice body shot from the Brazilian, and they trade some punches. Out of nowhere, a shot from Perreira, and a guillotine reply from Connelly fails. Pereira flips away from Connelly and then tries a guillotine that fails, allowing Connelly to get on top in guard. Punch from Connelly lands. How much energy did Pereira burn? A kick and sweep attempt fails for Pereira, and Connelly advances to half-guard. Connelly shoots, and Pereira sets up for a D’Arce. No dice, and Connelly gets back to his feet and takes another body shot. Swinging hooks from body miss, and Connelly continues to press forward. Those body shots are missing for Pereira, whose spin kick doesn’t have the spice of that first round. Nice knee from the clinch, however. Connelly just won’t be denied, and he lands a knee in the clinch that hurts Pereira. He’s all over his opponent and won’t allow any space. Punch in the clinch lands, and Pereira shoots for the takedown. Connelly’s spin to the back misses, but he continues to walk down his foe. Big right hand gives Pereira the easy takedown, and he pauses to take a breather. Connelly has less than two minutes to escape, and he angles for a triangle. Pereira doing enough to avoid standup, and Connelly tries the kimura from the bottom. Sweat makes that impossible, but he elbows the head. One minute to go, and Connelly has scooted to the fence. Connelly walks the fence with his toes and tries to throw up an armbar, then triangle, before time runs out. MMA Junkie scores it 10-9 for Pereira, and it’s 19-19.

Round 3 – A hug opens the final frame, and Connelly continues to press. Connelly shoots and gets stuffed, and Pereira turns him against the fence. Connelly grabs the neck as Pereira leaves his neck exposed. Pereira fights widly to avoid the choke and gets out after a wild scramble. He’s spent, and Connelly still has gas in the tank as he pursues Pereira in close. Pereira shoots again, and Connelly whips to the back and takes side control as Pereira concedes on his back. Connelly advances position, but Pereira recovers half-guard. Less than three minutes to go, and Connelly works to free his trapped leg. Pereira is exhausted, and Connelly attacks an arm.
