 Semarang, Jawa Tengah, menorehkan prestasi yang membanggakan. Daerah berjuluk 'Kota Lunpia' dinobatkan sebagai Kota Wisata Terbersih se-Asia Tenggara 2020.

Penghargaan tersebut diberikan oleh ASEAN Tourism Forum 2020 yang digelar di Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam pada Kamis, 16 Maret 2020. Tetapi penghargaan tersebut tidak diterima secara langsung oleh Wali Kota Semarang, Hendrar Prihadi, melainkan diwakili oleh Sekretaris Daerah Kota Semarang, Iswar Aminudin.

Hendrar sendiri mengunggah foto penghargaan yang diterima Semarang di akun Instagram resmi miliknya, @hendrarprihadi.

"Dibangun tanpa dijaga tak akan ada hasilnya, ini semua hasil dari upaya seluruh sedulur-sedulur di Kota Semarang," tulis Hendrar.

Dikutip dari Liputan6.com, sebelumnya Semarang masuk dalam nominasi penerima penghargaan Kota Wisata Terbersih se-Asia Tenggara 2018. Sayangnya, penghargaan tersebut jatuh ke Provinsi Nan, Thailand.

Pemerintah Kota Semarang dalam beberapa tahun terakhir terus melakukan pembenahan. Untuk menarik lebih banyak wisatawan, sejumlah sudut kota dipercantik.

Tidak hanya itu, kawasan bersejarah terutama Kota Lama direvitalisasi. Hasilnya, Presiden Joko Widodo dan beberapa menteri Kabinet Indonesia Maju dibuat terkesima saat kunjungan di akhir 2019 lalu.

Kota Lama Semarang juga diusulkan untuk mendapatkan cap Situs Warisan Dunia UNESCO. Sebab, destinasi ini menyimpan sebagian besar sejarah peradaban di Nusantara.

Kawasan Kota Lama menjadi salah satu destinasi yang diunggulkan Semarang. Dulu, Kota Lama merupakan daerah yang menjadi pusat perdagangan di masa kolonial.

Ada 50 bangunan gaya Eropa berdiri di sekitar Kota Lama. Seluruh bangunan dalam kondisi terawat dan masih kokoh hingga saat ini.

Kawasan seluas 31 hektare ini nantinya ditetapkan bebas kendaraan bermotor. Karena kecantikannya, Kota Lama pun mendapat julukan sebagai 'Little Netherland'.
